Square Enix's Deep Insanity Mixed Media Project Includes Anime, Manga, and Game

Deep Insanity

Square Enix has an ambitious new endeavor on the way in the form of the Deep Insanity mixed media project. In addition to a manga that's currently being serialized, the project will include a game that's due out this September and a TV anime set to broadcast in Japan this October.

In Deep Insanity, an unexplained disease called Randolph Syndrome has people falling into comas suddenly. At the same time as the disease is spreading, a massive underground world called Asylum—which appears to be the source of the disease—is discovered in Antarctica. Strange creatures and unknown resources await within, and people set forth to solve the problems of Randolph Syndrome and obtain all the knowledge (and wealth) that comes along with the amazing new genetic information below.

The story comes from Norimitsu Kaiho (series composition for Akudama Drive, Magical Girl Spec-Ops Asuka) and Makoto Fukami (Berserk, PSYCHO-PASS), and the manga—titled Deep Insanity: Nirvanathat kicked off back in February comes from artist Etorouji Shiono

The manga follows a boy with special resistance to the illness and a do-it-yourselfer from Antarctica who unintentionally take on the challenge of exploring the mysteries of Randolph Syndrome and Asylum.
