Re:ZERO and A Couple of Cuckoos Collab Sees Emilia Sporting Cute Twintails

Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- Directors Cut

In an unlikely collaboration between franchises, light novel series Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- and manga series A Couple of Cuckoos are teaming up for some specialty goods exclusive to readers of Weekly Shonen Magazine. The visual of Emilia and Erika was drawn by Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-, Chapter 4: The Sanctuary and the Witch of Greed manga illustrator Haruno Atori and A Couple of Cuckoos creator Miki Yoshikawa in celebration of the A Couple of Cuckoos TV anime series announcement.

While the two franchises are published by different companies, with Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- at KADOKAWA and Cuckoos at Kodansha, the collaboration came together in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine to celebrate the upcoming TV anime for Cuckoos, which was announced earlier this year and is scheduled for a 2022 release.

A special tapestry featuring the two characters will be available in the latest issue of Weekly Shonen Magazine. Another collaboration will be revealed in KODAKAWA's Monthly Comic Alive August issue (released on June 28).

A Couple of Cuckoos x Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-

A Couple of Cuckoos will be getting a TV anime series in 2022 under the direction of Hiroaki Akagi (KARAKAI JOZU NO TAKAGI-SAN) as the general director of the adaptation, with Yoshiyuki Shirahata (episodes of Great PretenderSleepy Princess in the Demon Castle) as the director at Shin-Ei Animation / SynergySP. Kodansha Comics publishes the manga series in English with three volumes currently released and describes it as such:

16-year-old super-studier Nagi Umino, second-year student at the Meguro River Academy high school, was switched at birth. On his way to a dinner to meet his birth parents, he accidentally meets the brash, outspoken, Erika Amano, who is determined to make Nagi her fake boyfriend as she never wants to actually marry. But once Nagi makes it to dinner, he finds his parents have decided to resolve the hospital switch by conveniently having him marry the daughter his birth parents raised...who turns out to be none other than Erika herself!

Meanwhile, the second season of the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- TV anime adaptation just finished up earlier this year, with the entire series (including OVAs!) streaming on Crunchyroll.
