Megumi Hayashibara Voices Original Character Pino in My Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission Film

The official website for the forthcoming anime feature film My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes Mission announced today that Megumi Hayashibara (Rei Ayanami in Eveangelion) is cast as an original character, Pino. The character was newly designed by the My Hero Academia manga's original author, Kohei Horikoshi, and appeared for the first time in the film's 90-second trailer released last week.

Pino is the sidekick of Roddy Soul voiced by Ryo Yoshizawa, who perches on his shoulder and is always with him. She does not speak, so Hayashibara has to express the character's rich emotions with just a squeal.

Hayashibara says, "It's been a while since I've been cast because of my face... (laughs) I think this is a role that I can fully demonstrate my 'Quirks' that I developed in the P-something Monster. After deciding to participate, I started watching the series from the first season. Though I haven't caught up with the latest, I'm going to be in perfect condition. There are so many great scenes in this series. I've already found my own favorite character. But...they are all cute."

The highly-anticipated third feature film is set to be released in Japan on August 6, 2021.
